Aegina is a popular destination for athenians, looking to spend their weekend in a nearby island. Being only 35 minutes away from Peiraus, it attracts a large number of athenians every weekend.
Aegina is mostly considered a family place. There are not that many bars and night clubs, and if you are a party animal you will be better off going to paros, mykonos and other such islands. There however are many taverns and bar/restaurants all over the island, that will accomodate anyone else.

The Road Goes On Forever

Fates Warning - Sat, 05/01/2010 - 21:51

Its so cold in the shadow of distant lights
And the chilling wind slows our pace and tests our will
Still a voice whispers it will be over soon
And there we find the courage to climb the hill

Sometimes I lose sight of where I'm going
Fanned by a flame I can't remember
But distant lights still burn bright
And the road goes on forever

Year after year with renewed ambition
We scale the walls to find there's nothing there
Still idle hands clutch the empty page
With the passion of a desperate prayer

Sometimes I lose sight of where I'm going
Fanned by a flame I can't remember

The Acropolis Museum

Travel to greece - Fri, 03/05/2010 - 18:49

Up until the summer of 2009 visiting the museu of Acropolis was a bit of a dissapointement compared to the level of exchibits within it. The need for an improved house for sections of the Parthenon and other astounding collections was an idea that initially began during the 70s.

The new Acropolis Museum has a total area of 25,000 square meters, with exhibition space of over 14,000 square meters, ten times
more than that of the old museum on the Hill of the Acropolis. The new Museum offers all the amenities expected in an international museum of the 21st century.

The name Plaka stems from Arvanitika "Pliak Athena", meaning "Old Athens". Plaka has many archaeological sites of great importance. The first that will draw a visitor's attention is the famous Temple of the Winds is part of the ancient Roman Agora. Plaka is one of the most and beautiful and picturesque areas of Athens. It is a part of the ancient town bellow the Acropolis.

It mainly comprises of narrow streets and old houses. People that visited it in the past may say that it was packed with cheap tavernas and loud night clubs full of drunk tourists, but in recent years it has had a face lift. The restaurants and tavernas are a lot nicer and the clubs are replaced by trendy and cute bars that attract tourists and locals alike.

In the day there are many shops, street artists, flower sellers and cafes for fun walks.
